Why families choose us

Care that feels personal, because it is

Same face, every time

Wherever possible, you'll be matched with a familiar carer so there's no re-explaining your routine to a stranger each visit. If your usual carer is ever unavailable, we'll arrange trusted cover.

Flexible, not fixed

Scale visits up or down as needs change. No lock-in contracts and no penalty for a lighter fortnight.

Local, not a call centre

We're a Canberra family business. When you call, you speak to someone who actually knows your file.

Safe, by design

Every carer completes a national police check and we carry full public liability insurance.

For families doing the research

Looking into care for a parent, not yourself? That's how most people start.

It's common for one person — usually an adult child — to start researching while everyone else is still getting used to the idea. That's a completely normal way in, and we're set up to work with you at whatever stage you're at.

  • Start with what's changed

Showering, meals, getting to appointments, keeping on top of the house — noticing what's become harder lately is a more useful starting point than trying to have every answer.

  • Keep their preferences in view

Routines, people and places they care about matter to us just as much as the practical tasks. Tell us and we'll build the plan around them.

  • Bring them in when it feels right

You're welcome to make the first call or fill in the form on their behalf — we'll always loop your parent into the conversation before anything is booked.

Paying for care

However your support is funded, we can help

Funding can be the most confusing part of getting started. Here's the short version — we'll walk you through the rest in your first chat.

Support at Home

The Australian Government's current in-home care program, which replaced Home Care Packages from November 2025 and is accessed through My Aged Care. If you have a Support at Home budget (or a legacy Home Care Package still transitioning across), we can provide services alongside your provider or coordinator to help it go further. We don't currently provide CHSP-funded services.

Private pay

No funding in place, or want support outside what your package covers? You're welcome to book services privately, with clear, upfront pricing.

Not sure what applies to you, or haven't been assessed through My Aged Care yet? Most people aren't sure, and that's completely normal. Tell us your situation in a free first chat and we'll explain your options in plain English.

How it works

Simple to start, easy to adjust

New to home care? Most people are — here's exactly what happens, from first call to first visit.

1

Have a chat

A free, no-obligation conversation about what support would actually help — by phone or in person.

2

We build a plan

A simple plan around your needs, funding and preferences — nothing generic, nothing locked in.

3

Meet your carer

Wherever possible, we introduce you to a familiar carer before anything starts, so it's a face you already know.

4

Check in & adjust

We stay in touch and adjust the plan as your needs change over time — just let us know.

Run by a local family, not a call centre

Elvana Care was started by a husband-and-wife team here in Canberra who wanted care to feel personal again — not a rotating roster of unfamiliar faces or a service booked through an app.

We keep our client numbers small on purpose, so every person we support gets consistency, not just coverage.

— The Elvana Care team

The name

"Elvana" — moonlight, hope.

A steady, gentle presence rather than a flashing light — that's the kind of support we aim to be: dependable, calm, and there when it's needed.

Comparing your options

Three questions worth asking any home care provider

Whoever you end up choosing, these are worth asking upfront — here's how we answer them.

Will I see the same carer, or someone different each visit?

Wherever possible, it's a familiar face — we'll arrange trusted cover if they're ever unavailable — why that matters.

What exactly am I paying for?

Clear, upfront pricing with no surprise fees — see funding & pricing.

What happens if my needs change?

No lock-in contracts — visits scale up or down as things change. See how it works.

Questions

Good to know before you call

I'm looking for care for my mum or dad, not myself — is that okay?
Yes — most of our first enquiries come from an adult child looking into support for a parent. You're welcome to call, email or fill in the enquiry form on their behalf, and we'll bring your parent into the conversation at a pace that's comfortable for them.
How quickly can we start?
Usually within a week of our first chat — sooner if the need is urgent. We'll always be upfront if a start date isn't realistic.
Is there a minimum number of hours?
No. Visits are scaled to what's genuinely needed, whether that's a couple of hours a fortnight or daily support. No lock-in contracts either way.
What's the difference between Support at Home and a Home Care Package?
Support at Home is the current Australian Government in-home care program, which replaced Home Care Packages from November 2025, and is accessed through My Aged Care. See the funding section above, or ask us — we're happy to talk it through.
Do you work with Support at Home or Home Care Package funding?
Yes — we can work alongside your Support at Home provider or care coordinator. Private-pay clients are welcome too. See the funding section above, or just ask us.
How do I register or get started?
Call us, email us, or fill in the client intake and consent form — whichever's easiest for you. We'll be in touch to arrange a free chat and confirm next steps.
Are your carers police-checked and insured?
Yes. Every team member completes a national police check before working with clients, and Elvana Care carries public liability insurance.
What happens at the first visit?
Nothing is locked in on the first call. We talk through what you need, then arrange for you to meet your carer in person before any ongoing visits are booked.
Can I change or cancel a visit?
Yes — plans change and that's fine. Just give us reasonable notice and we'll adjust the schedule.

Proudly local to Canberra, Queanbeyan & Yass

We currently support clients across the ACT, plus Queanbeyan, Karabar and Yass in NSW, with capacity growing as we do. If you're just outside these areas, get in touch anyway — we're expanding.
